Reclaim The Streets, Trafalgar Square 1997.

Reclaim The Streets or RTS was a unique environmental pressure group, briefly formed in 1992 when they organised an occupation of a street in the financial district of London, England. They then disbanded but later reformed in 1995,  buoyed by the success of the No M11 Link campaign, in particular Claremont Road. The first proper successful RTS action was in Camden Town in 1995. Word was put out that an action was going to happen and to meet up at Kings Cross north London. We then made our way on the underground to a destination only a few people knew, security had to be tight, as it was always assumed there were undercover police infiltrating the meetings. An assumption that later proved to be true.
